Edd McGatha | Street Photographer
Based in Tipp City, Ohio, Edd McGatha has been developing his photographic eye since the mid-1990s, finding inspiration in the people, places, and unscripted moments of everyday life.
Edd's approach to street photography is rooted in observation rather than orchestration. Working primarily with natural light and minimal posing, he seeks to capture people as they are...going about their day, often unaware of the camera. Sometimes that means literally “shooting from the hip,” discreetly capturing a fleeting expression, an unexpected interaction, or a quiet moment that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Whether working in color or black-and-white, Edd lets the subject and its surroundings guide his choice. His photographs invite viewers to discover the character, humor, and humanity found in ordinary moments.
Edd regularly exhibits his photography throughout the Miami Valley. His recent featured exhibitions include 2024/366 Picture of the Day at the Dayton Society of Artists and Travels with Camera at Meadowlark Restaurant.
